An asset to my entourage

Recently I heard that a male friend of mine was adopting another guy into his friend circle. My male friend is thinking that this new guy is a good looking dude. This new guy is meant to be his new wing man.
Do women do this? Last time I checked all my friends were my friends because we like hanging out, we have common interest, they laugh at my jokes, we have common histories, we like each other, we like to talk to each other, and we make each other laugh.
Do I have this all wrong? Do I need to start looking at girls, and think to my self, "would you be an asset to my entourage*?" Meaning will you help me pick up guys? Will you lure them in with your beauty, and then I will do my best not to mess it up by saying inappropriate things or being too over the top??

*Entourage. I don't have one. But I liked the way the phrase "an asset to my entourage" sounded. What I should say is, an asset to a group of friends that let me be seen with them.

As a guy, I will say that not every guy thinks that way. I just pick my friends based on who I enjoy hanging out with.

I don't know what the deal is with wing men. Lane has struck up quite a few bromances himself.

That is soooo lame! Is this friend of yours an Abercrombie & Fitch wearing, jeep driving "dude" with bleached tips & a fake tan? That is the only type of guy I can think of who would do something so absurd as this.
(P.S. Your comment on our blog was my favorite one... haha, I think we could talk for hours about Ryan's "fashion sense" & yes, he really IS color blind & how horrible am I that I still forget. & always describe things by color to him.)

PS I didn't mean that to sound derogatory. It was a compliment, as in: you're the hot friend.

Is that all I am to you? Part of your entourage. That hurts a little.

Chances are that you are mis-informed about your friend's reasoning for making this new friend. Did he tell you this directly or did you hear it from the grapevine?
