curry in a hurry

I may or may not have made coconut curry last night for dinner and had bollywood music playing when Dave got home. (and did my best to dance like they do in the music video)

A few hints for next time:

Use less cayenne pepper, it will make it easier to eat. (and i like spice)

Make it at someone elses house, because me and my house still smell like curry.

Rent the bollywood version of Pride and Prejudice, it will add to the experience.

Learn how to make that bread, Naan? I love that stuff.

Gethsemane

Easter is tomorrow. And to be honest, it is always good to have a reminder that Easter is about more than Reeses peanut butter eggs and Cadbury anything.

Back in October my husband I went to my nephews Primary program, and they sang a song I had never heard. It was so powerful and full of the spirit. It made us both cry. I have since been campaigning for our Primary to learn and sing it.

This version I found on youtube really doesn't do it justice. Just imagine a stage full of sweet little faces singing at the top of their lungs. Beautiful.

A sweet reminder of the love He has for us.

Happy Easter

hearts

Do you know what expression I do not understand? This is something a lot of people say that almost makes me cringe.

"In my heart of hearts"

Huh? Where did this come from? Why, oh why is it used?

We have one heart. Juuuuust one.

I know they are not meaning it literally. I still don't love it. What do they mean when they are saying it?

Fix it.

(apologies if you use this phrase. i forgive you. from the bottom of my hearts)

impressive

currently impressed by:

my texting skills.
i have a "smart phone" and it has that fancy schmancy swype texting. lovely little invention. however, every time i try and "swype" the word you, it comes out thou. i do this a lot. ive decided that it shows a higher level of respect to those that i text.

my ability to eat cookies.
girl scout cookies. samoas. husband doesn't eat them so he reminds me when they are gone that there is only one person to blame... ps- sugar cookies from smartcookie MUST be made with crack. it would be embarrassing to admit the actual amount of both kinds of cookies that i have recently consumed.

my ability to not vomit when a patient of mine does.
it is really gross. and it happens. vomit at the hospital happens a lot. but yet i have been able to NOT toss the above beloved cookies.

im
assuming you are impressed too.

ps
-forgive the lazy, no capitalization and no punctuation ect. or... just be impressed by it.

pps
- its been awhile huh?

good thing.

One year ago today, I said yes.

And I am so happy that I did.

Here's to:

countless pans of brownies, thinking each other is hilarious, grown up purchases, trips together (and getting to sleep in the same bed), late night 7-11 runs, and all the other wonderful things saying yes brought.

basement

I have been sick the last few weeks. You know, the man voice, stuffy nose, energy sucker, cough that sounds like a dog barking kind of sick. I sounded like death. Felt like dirt.

Turns out sick people don't really feel comfortable with a nurse coughing all over them. Whatev.

So I have spent the majority of time locked up in my basement on the couch. The first few days were not too bad. Pajamas and crappy TV without feeling guilty. Then it starts to wear on you. My skin lost its "I just got back from Cancun" luster (thank you in-laws!), my little chest got all too use to wearing no bra, and I'm not sure if my husband would recognize me if I put on makeup and I ran out of clean pajamas.
I got bored. I read a lot of blogs. Pretty sure I looked at all of your friends blogs. (you all have lovely friends) Looked at lots of crafting, fashion and food blogs. This all made me feel uncreative, backwards and hungry.
I reached an all time low when I found myself watching 3 episodes of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Yikes. More glitter and botox than I can handle. Pretty sure those stiff foreheads scared most the sick out of me.

I'm feeling better. Left the house. Returned to work. Wearing a bra and makeup. And feeling like I don't need to watch TV for a long time....

or at least till next wednesday (tell me you saw this weeks Modern Family?!)

my blog brings people together.

Really it does. No, really.

Back in May of 2009 I posted this. The important part there was me mentioning this cool chick who was going on 31 dates before she turned 31. She blogged about it. I liked.

Then, a friend of mine(from my mission, who I didn't think ever read my blog) saw it on my blog and told her brother about the dating extravaganza and he signed up to be date number 31 and now... they are getting married! Pretty darn great huh? I'm almost positive they will name their first born after me.

This all makes me very happy.

Thanks for all the Christmas cards we had in our mailbox this year. Kansas, you all are so good looking. Really. Pretty people and your pretty families. The cards are still on the fridge.

You may have noticed that we didn't send out cards. Yeah. I'm still working on our wedding thank yous. I know. It has been 6 months. I know. Don't judge me. According to etiquette I have 1 year.

Now, if we did send out cards, I may have added this picture. Because nothing says Merry Christmas like me makeup free, in pajamas that are a wee bit small and Dave in U of U garb.

Hope all of your holidays were as wonderful as ours!
xoxo
