One year ago today, I said yes.
And I am so happy that I did.
Here's to:
countless pans of brownies, thinking each other is hilarious, grown up purchases, trips together (and getting to sleep in the same bed), late night 7-11 runs, and all the other wonderful things saying yes brought.

basement
I have been sick the last few weeks. You know, the man voice, stuffy nose, energy sucker, cough that sounds like a dog barking kind of sick. I sounded like death. Felt like dirt.
Turns out sick people don't really feel comfortable with a nurse coughing all over them. Whatev.
So I have spent the majority of time locked up in my basement on the couch. The first few days were not too bad. Pajamas and crappy TV without feeling guilty. Then it starts to wear on you. My skin lost its "I just got back from Cancun" luster (thank you in-laws!), my little chest got all too use to wearing no bra, and I'm not sure if my husband would recognize me if I put on makeup and I ran out of clean pajamas.
I got bored. I read a lot of blogs. Pretty sure I looked at all of your friends blogs. (you all have lovely friends) Looked at lots of crafting, fashion and food blogs. This all made me feel uncreative, backwards and hungry.
I reached an all time low when I found myself watching 3 episodes of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Yikes. More glitter and botox than I can handle. Pretty sure those stiff foreheads scared most the sick out of me.
I'm feeling better. Left the house. Returned to work. Wearing a bra and makeup. And feeling like I don't need to watch TV for a long time....
or at least till next wednesday (tell me you saw this weeks Modern Family?!)

my blog brings people together.
Really it does. No, really.
Back in May of 2009 I posted this. The important part there was me mentioning this cool chick who was going on 31 dates before she turned 31. She blogged about it. I liked.
Then, a friend of mine(from my mission, who I didn't think ever read my blog) saw it on my blog and told her brother about the dating extravaganza and he signed up to be date number 31 and now... they are getting married! Pretty darn great huh? I'm almost positive they will name their first born after me.
This all makes me very happy.

Thanks for all the Christmas cards we had in our mailbox this year. Kansas, you all are so good looking. Really. Pretty people and your pretty families. The cards are still on the fridge.
You may have noticed that we didn't send out cards. Yeah. I'm still working on our wedding thank yous. I know. It has been 6 months. I know. Don't judge me. According to etiquette I have 1 year.
Now, if we did send out cards, I may have added this picture. Because nothing says Merry Christmas like me makeup free, in pajamas that are a wee bit small and Dave in U of U garb.

5 months
Over a month ago I had a dream. It started out to be a great one. It was a Ferris Bueller's day off with one of my bffs Serena.
It turned bad. The toilet was full of swimming triceratops that were out to bite. Then small children started to climb out of the toilet. They were followed by the Dalai Lama. Naturally.
I woke up in the middle of the night disturbed and confused. I was a little freaked out to be honest. AND I also had to tinkle. For a good ten minutes I tried to talk myself into walking down the dark hall to the bathroom. I couldn't get the triceratops, children and the Dalai Lama out of my mind.
So I nudged my husband, warned him that this was going to sound crazy, and then asked him to walk me to the bathroom.
He did. (Turns out there were no left over triceratops, children or Dalai Lama)
I am a grown woman. What? I have been walking myself to the bathroom for years.
Now...
it is kind of nice that I have a dark hall escort.

addicted
Dave and I have an unhealthy addiction to Modern Family. We discovered it this summer on Hulu. We spent many a minutes watching whatever episodes we could find online. We purchased Season 1 as soon as it was out and stayed up late watching it.
We love it. I think we have a crush on it. We both find ourselves bringing it up in casual conversation. Kind of like when you have a crush on someone and so you bring them up in conversation just to hear their name.
I don't even care that the show is kind of trendy right now. It brings me joy every Wednesday night. Chances are we have already tried converting you to watching it too.
I tried finding a video clip to give a taste, but couldn't find one to do it justice.
Just watch a little on hulu.
ps- Horror. I just read on another blog that they.... didn't like Modern Family. It saddened me.

This picture really doesn't have anything to do with the post. I just like it.

Me, my sisters in-law and my momma went to Vegas. Just the girls. Well, just the girls plus baby Sammy and baby Cole.
We did what most people do in Vegas. Ate yummy food, went shopping and stayed up late into the night beading jewelry. My mom brought a trunk full of beads and we created.
I must confess that I am somewhat of a disappointment to my mother. All my sister in-laws are much better at beading jewelry than I am. I was much more interested in stuffing my face and chit chatting. It is a good thing my brothers married wonderful ladies. :) She needs to pass on her talent.
Thanks for the good times ladies!

ps- My only regret is that Carolyn and I shared the PB Euphoria at Max Brenner chocolate instead of getting our own.
